Spike Puts His Paw Down is the result of an amazing creative collaboration!

AUTHOR: Mary Lou Lydecker is a retired seventy-year-old elementary music teacher, private piano teacher, and church organist/singer. Mary Lou taught music in the Parma, North Royalton and Strongsville School Systems in Ohio. Her love was elementary music classes. She often wrote her own music scripts for programs and especially was fond of adding sounds and actions to books in the classrooms.

Mary Lou graduated from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Phi Kappa Lambda, with a Bachelor of Music degree, and from Kent State University with a Master in Teaching.  In 2002 she founded the non-profit organization, "Sounds of Hope Project" producing soothing CDs for those in hospice, nursing home or anyone in need. 

She and her husband, Marty, retired to Fort Myers, Florida. They have two children, Mark, married to Melissa, and Mike, married to Kristen, and four grandchildren, Julia, Elliott, Levi and Alice.

ILLUSTRATOR: Jake Spinner is an award winning graphic designer from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. With a primary focus in design, this is the first children’s book he has illustrated. Jake would like to thank his girlfriend, Emily, for all of her support. He also thanks his two cats Kiwi and Mango, who volunteered to poise as references.
